Alex was born and raised along the East Coast and spent significant time in Boston, Atlanta, and Washington DC. After leaving his career as a corporate lawyer to thru-hike the continental divide trail in 2023, he decided to settle in Maysville—not too far from the trail. He began renovating his charming (but decrepit) fixer-upper, met his wife Julia in Salida, and his son Duncan was born at HRRMC.

He began volunteer firefighting in February of 2024 and later became a full-time staff firefighter and fire inspector in April of 2025. Alex’s current certifications are Firefighter 1, Hazardous Materials awareness and operations, Wildland Firefighter Type 2, Swiftwater Rescue awareness and operations, and Fire Inspector I & II per ICC. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, skiing, biking, hiking, renovating, and serves as a board member for the Salida Regional Library.
