Chaffee County Fire Protection District's dedicated wildland division maintains itself as a formidable force combatting wildland fires all over the nation when called upon. Notable assists include the 2016 Hayden Pass Fire, 2018 Weston Pass Fire, 2019 Decker Fire and most recently; Mountain View Fire in 2025, North of Buena Vista. 

Chaffee Fire's mitigation program provides support and tools to the local community aiding in wildfire mitigation for single property use of our mitigation trailers & tools as well as offering support for Chaffee Chipping events where neighborhoods can schedule full day-events to collaboratively use the tools provided by the Chaffee Fire mitigation program for neighborhood-wide mitigation cleanup.
